Dog Friendly Beaches in Norfolk

Frodo is now 16 weeks old and we've been taking him for walks in the local park for the last two weeks. He's still too young to go far and certainly not be let off the lead yet, but I can't wait to take him to Norfolk to run around on the beach.

Holkham Beach, North Norfolk

When I was growing up we used to spend every Christmas with my grandparents on their farm in North Norfolk, so I have many happy memories of the area. The beaches on the North Norfolk coast are unspoilt, and are wild and desolate in winter, with waves churning onto the shore and a bracing North Sea wind. I can imagine Frodo, our Cavalier, racing across the long stretch of sand at Holkham Beach, before we head back to the farmhouse and warm ourselves in front of the fire. Bliss.

Frodo

On Saturday 24th September we brought home Frodo, our 8 week-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Not only is he completely adorable, but he inspired me to write an article about buying a Cavalier puppy.

Take That at Wembley

85,000 people packed Wembley Stadium at Take That's concert on the 4th July. And although the average age of the crowd had to be 30+ and predominately female (of which I'm guilty), there were men, kids and families singing and dancing along to Take That's greatest hits too.

The potter's wheel

Yesterday I had my first go on the pottery wheel at Potstop. Six attempts plus a lot of mess later I managed to make a small, slightly uneven bowl that didn't collapse. It needs a lot of practice. Roll on next week.

Wish you were here?

Last week I published my first article, The Famous Sunsets of Santorini, Greece on Suite 101. If you've got a moment why not read it?

Gone potty

It's been a busy few months but despite everything I've still managed to go to my weekly pottery classes and produce a few pots...

The wait begins...

After sending off my novel, Time Shifters to a few agents in January, I decided I wanted to do something creative whilst I waited for the replies, so on the 18th January I started a pottery course at Potstop in Bristol. Two hours spent making a pot out of clay flew by and was not only enjoyable but relaxing too. As it turned out I didn't have to wait long for a reply from an agent because that same week, four days after posting the first three chapters off, the children's book specialist at one of the literary agencies phoned me asking to read the whole novel. That was two weeks ago. So to take my mind off the wait, I'm off to Potstop again this afternoon and will hopefully have a finished piece of pottery to show for my first few weeks work.
